hnick that is 54
Then I spent the evening of his eighteenth birthday burrowing into the brassiere of the accommodating Enid M*ch*lk* in the back of a pickup truck on a ridge overlooking the northwestern edge of California's fabled San Fernando Valley. In addition to feeling Enid I was feeling a trifle seedy that evening, and had in fact picked up the so-called "Hong Kong flu," which duly clobbered me during the night. I spent the following day, Christmas Eve, on a divan in the living room, only vaguely aware of the holiday traffic, with a high fever (105F at one point, my stepmater reported later), hallucinating violently. And while all this was happening, Hugh became old enough to draft. Ick.

Good memory for details...
I try not to go back that far. It isn't that I find the memories troublesome, but that I have changed in major ways a couple times since then and I don't find the recollections particularly relevant any more. I find myself wondering about some of my behavior just in the last 25 years or so, but I'm pretty sure it was me... Oh well, strokes for folks, I guess.

Happy birthday Hugh, and a question for Alex...
Did you keep track of when you picked up that each person admitted their ages? Because I'm wondering that so many admitted their birthdays when I wasn't looking!
Thanks, Ben

think that....
...Alex has some, but not everyone's ages. Alex, do I have that right?
In case you are keeping track, Alex, I'm perpetually 21, right? <grin> Yes, that's the ticket!

No, I don't have the notes of when birthdays were mentioned.
But, some were noted many years ago and for some people (Maggie included) the year of birth is unknown.

Some things are better left unsaid...like wine all great things get better with time....for now, I shall remain goddess@28 <grin>.
It is really tragic that biz/IT is so freaked out about age. Instead of drawing from those of us with experience, knowledge, and innovative ideas with which to expand profits long term, the current short-sighted spheres of control would rather sell out the masses for short term profit/gain. The global community will not begin a new upcycle until the damage is done and short term greed is complete.
For now, aging innovators can only take positive action to awaken the sleeping masses by "thinking globally, acting locally". And, that is my wish for this holiday season.
All the best, Slugbug

You may get a chuckle to hear that, the person you kindly offered assistance to - way back.. in OH:
Now has her very own Powerbook.. and a G-4 on the side - having suffered Enough! through all that stuff we know So Well. (She remains appreciative of the offer, still ;-)
