Mailing List Announcement
The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing IWE mailing list is ready to go on warhead.org.uk.
It's also good to go on guildenstern.dyndns.org (for a fallback server)
I've resolved the problem that might cause problems for folk who cannot receive mail from dynamic IPs (I now relay all outbound mail through my ISP's mail server).
In the absence of any voices to the contrary (and in the presence of them, most likely ) I will be transferring existing subscriptions from the guildenstern.dyndns.org server to the warhead.org.uk server at about 1800 GMT today.
I will keep the guildenstern.dyndns.org server running (and send this message to it) for those who miss all the fun.
Sign up right away! (Scott, please do the honours with the Mailing List link)

Too bad. Can't use it.
>>> RCPT To:<iwe-request@warhead.org.uk> <<< 554 <dslxxx-xxx-xxx.xxxx.dsl.speakeasy.net[xxx.xx.xxx.xx]>: Client host rejected: Sorry, but we refuse mail directly from hosts with generic reverse DNS. Please use another outbound mail server. 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
Too bad.

Use your ISP's mail server, then.
You'll encounter that problem a lot; more and more mailhosts are refusing to talk with dynamic IPs and hosts that don't reverse-resolve properly.
To that end:

304 is the Q of interest.

More and more?
I haven't seen that problem in years. And I'm fairly sure my server's IP address doesn't reverse resolve, though I guess I could probably arrange it with my ISP.

No - thanks though.
I don't like the gmail interface (yes, I let them know!) - and I have ten times the gmail size available to me because I run my own mail server. I aggregate all my mail (3 isps and multiple domains) and filters through squirrelmail. I've changed my MTA to relay through speakeasy for now, but I think there was a reason (shrouded in my elderly fogged-up memory) I was sending directly from my machine. Something about AOL & my sister's business, IIRC.
*grin*
At least I'm subscribed now!
