New What the heck is a ptf?
I downloaded some of the ecomstation fixes the other day, and a lot of them are in a file format called *.ptf. What the heck is this? And how the heck do I apply these fixes?

Normally, I'd say "Hie thee to Google" and cast doubt upon your manhood and parentage for asking such a simple question...

...but I've been Googling for half an hour now and I can't find out WHAT one of these things is. I can find out which ones you need to do RIPL to Warp 4 clients from Warp 4 Server, but the what and how escapes me.

Best guess is that it's some kind of IBM-special fixpak format, that you need a spiffy tool to apply.

New LOL
Yep, I hailed me to google and deja both for a few hours before I gave up. Everyone seems to mention them, but no-one seems to bother mentioning how to DEAL with them.

However, I've figured out that you can unzip them with unizp.exe, and apply the fixes manually.

New IBM TLA for Program Temporary Fix.
The acronym is older than you are. I remember it from the 1960's, but it may have been in existence even longer.

The implication of PTF is that some time in a future release, the fix will be made permanent, but perhaps in a different form.

New I knew I'd heard it before!
Just couldn't remember what it meant. Probably from my couple years experience with the AS/400.

New Yep, IBM has used with all its programming products.
