I have just stumbled upon a Hungarian recipe for sauerkraut soup which is quite different from the Slavic ones, and reputed to be a hangover treatment as well. I'll have to try that one next. Went down to Burbank yesterday to pick up a couple minor ingredients at [link\|http://members.aol.com/HungImprts/\|Otto's], the local Hungarian emporium, While I was there I picked up a bottle of wine from his ample stocks. Otto looked at the wine and said "No, this is wrong, very wrong. You have only one bottle. One bottle will only get you to here (demonstrates tipsy stagger). To do it right you need two bottles!"
