Whatever he does next,
I hope it involves a lot of flying.

This guy's ahead of his time! He's using quantum programming methods: in universes where invalid data is passed to this function, it does not return. Thus you are ensured that you will only have valid data after calling it. Optimally you'd destroy the universe on failure, but computers haven't quite advanced to that level yet.

Does the fact that all these administration officials . . .
. . are abandoning ship prove they are rats? Or are rats not the only vermin that abandon sinking ships?

Rumsfeld plays too important a role to get rid off quick.
I expect Rumsfeld to stay around as long as Bush has hopes of success in Iraq. Rumsfeld is the one designated to take the blame if the US fails in Iraq. If Bush puts a new person in the job, that plan won't work.

Looks like your right
[link|http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/11/30/80903.shtml|Newsmax] Secretary Colin Powell, the State Department and the CIA \ufffd not Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld \ufffd are responsible for the chaos that has grown out of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, says Richard Perle, the former chairman of Pentagon's Defense Policy Review Board. The neocons are going to try to blame Iraq on Powell. This is pretty absurd, since Powell and the State Department where overruled on every major decision. But they might be able to get it to stick in public. Jay

I dunno...
...even the right-wing conservative media have hopped on Rummy as the source of all things rotten in Iraq. I think that this is a trial baloon by the insider neocons to FUD the good name of Colin Powell, lest he harbor impure thoughts of running for higher office in ought-8 against Duh's hand-picked replacement puppetsuccessor (e.g. Jeb! or the good Doktor).
