New Feingold opposes "Patriot Act"
The only sane congressman we have I think, 99-1.

[link|http://feingold.senate.gov/releases/01/10/102501at.html|Russ Feingold]

EFF has this analysis of the [link|http://www.eff.org/Privacy/Surveillance/Terrorism_militias/20011031_eff_usa_patriot_analysis.html|bill].

New Hits the highlights pretty well.
But I fear that the dread attention span disease now of epidemic proportion across all strata, means that few who were there for the reading - shall have listened. Few not there, will hear other than a 'maverick view' -- how dare he oppose The Patriot View !?

It's too long to be a Patrick Henry, too mild to be a Tom Paine. The affront to all remains: it's One in a *Hundred*.

Think a PHB could grok that speech? How many of those have we, and what positions of power?

But better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

PATRIOT act?

Try, Pretty Asinine Try; Reacting Idiotically Or (even) Terminally

who has believed for some years that creeping dumbth characterizes the decline in mental acuity of the Boomers and, the rise of the Consumers. Events merely confirms that conviction.

Rep or dem, I agree with Mr. Feingold.

New Our only sane congressman
Well, Senator, actualy.

And I'm a big fan, have been for years.

I do remember his first Senate campaign, though. It is ironic that the only sane legislator was endorsed by a cardboard cutout of The King. He also had an ad where he walked the cameraman through his house and opened all the closet doors to demonstrate the lack of skeletons. Me, I made a macrame skeleton decades ago, and have kept it hanging in a closet in every house I've ever owned, and most of my apartments.

Dr. Kim says my happy pills will start working in a few weeks...

New Not 'skeleton', Mike: whacha need is Skelton!
Some old-time Radio shows (remember when radio was an actual medium and not a loony-bin of suppurating ads intermixed with shrieks?)

Ignore the War masturbation , punditry, sanctimonious whinging and pompous BSing:

I'm sure Someone is peddling tapes of Red Skelton et al (and a few Spike Jones for intervals) Inner Sanctum, Gangbusters, Jack Benny, Green Hornet, The Shadow (Knows) What Evil lurks in the mind of man..

Recall: back when we were misanthropic isolationists, we were a lot less *Dangerous* and our bucolic humor was almost charming - and a damsite lot less cynical.

*Please* - leave that idiot-box Off til you regain your antibodies for the virulent hatred, fear-filled strain, running amok..

New Idiot box is reserved for idiocy, thanks
Old, stupid sitcoms and "blind date".

I'm watching very little TV these days, and what little I do watch is pointless fun. Well, I haven't given up the occasional Simpson's episode, but that's as relevant as I'll tolerate.
