Open a particular app, numlock turns off. Open it up again a few minutes later, numlock stays on. It.Is.Infuriating. I've changed the registry setting to turn it on at bootup, but it still keeps turning itself off. Is it my imagination or does Windows just keep getting worse rather than better?

OK, I admit the probability of accidentally pressing a key is a lot higher for CapsLock than for NumLock... But still, have you positively ruled it out? To facilitate finding out, have you set up "ToggleKeys" in your "Accessibility Options"? They make the computer go "BEEP!" when you toggle a lock on, and "BOOP!" when you toggle it off; they're invaluable. (For all of us fumble-fingers, that is, not just for gimps. If I open up an app called Terraterm Secure Shell (text-only terminal/telnet kinda thing). . .it toggles the numlock to On when it opens (leaves it On if it's already On), but when I enter the email program, Pine, it toggles it to Off. That's not the only app it does this on though.

Post #184,895 by Meerkat 11/23/04 3:54:15 PM Reply	Checked all the options in TeraTerm? I vaguely remember TeraTerm doing that - I've not used it in ages. But there may have been an option to stop it doing silly things with NumLock. Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
