Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I've been splashed with the Koolaid..
Not enough to assume the position, yet. But after all these years with Wintel, the Difference is pretty fucking obvious: all their shit mostly works, most all the time. (Though *repairs*, esp. the Time taken.. appear to be not quite up to the rest of the performance.)

We do have to bear in mind though, that this allegiance to YAN Yuppie CIEIO's hype - is apparently attended by as much earned hatred for the Beast and its wares as.. the undeniable superiority of the OS and the fine quality of the hi-priced hardware. How do you weigh the two motives?

(Of course too, older users, those who had formed allegiances with some local Apple retailer ... then found her gnashing teeth over the many rapes committed by Jobs and that former Pepsico Salesman upon their Base - are surely sorely afflicted with a certain other cognitive dissonance.)

When has a Wintel victim ever proclaimed proudly [a year later], It just works!! ??
New My repair experiences
have been stellar service at high prices.

I've had to send in my TiBook thrice for repairs.

1) Broken latch - warranty repair - called Tuesday, box arrived Wed - sent Wed, back Friday!

2) I dropped it - my fault - broken hinge - called Wed am, box arrived Wed noonish - picked up Wed pm - back Saturday! Cost: outrageous at $600+! (much of case was replaced though - lesson is always buy AppleCare for laptops).

3) Couple months later I noticed it was not possible to remove battery - dropped it at Apple store Thursday - picked it up Monday. No charge.

The repair service for laptops is stellar. The cost is pretty high but this can be mitigated by purchase of AppleCare.

New Agree on Applecare
I've had great experience with Apple support and repair. However, when I purchased a new laptop recently I made sure I had Applecare.

Another option (if you live near an Apple store) is to get an [link|http://www.apple.com/retail/procare/|Apple ProCare] card. It's sort of "AppleCare Lite" but it gets you priority support and services at your local Apple store. I think it's US$99/year.

hence the term "wholesale destruction"].

New what I dont like about Apple Service
my Imac is out of warranty, If an off the shelf (hd, ide card, ram) goes south out come the tools, if my cdrom goes south (apple scsi) they will only ship to a dealer who will happily install it for me at a cost.
that is my only beef with them.
