TTF some are Bit-Mapped and some aren't.
OpenType for sure is not bit-mapped.
Mayhaps you have to add the directories that they were added to to the local.conf in /etc/fonts/local.conf
All you should need to do is add the directory where they are... something like:
<dir>/usr/share/fonts/truetype</dir>
<dir>/usr/local/share/fonts</dir>
Something like that, fontconfig should pickup the changes within 30 secs or so. If not restart xfs,(not everything else) and things *might* worky.
I say *might* because it seems everyone else has problems with these things and I just don't. I fsck with them all the time and I don't lose them... I just don't know anymore.
You, Mike, Jim just to mention a few always seem to have bad karma with this stuff. It just WFM. YMMV. IANAL.
