I thought they said Eisenhower cracked the block and then Nixon destroyed it. 'twas a long night. Thanks for correction. FDR tried to punish the southern democrats for not following his lead. He wasn't able to force his slate in. It culminated in the 1964 election when Goldwater took much of the south, but lost.
