It would not be surprising to find large numbers of people with the wrong idea, 140 years later. The North - that is, Yankee commercial interests - were uncompromising instigators and invaders. The war could have been avoided again and again in the years from 1848 to 1860. -drl

Of course, that's a vast simplification, and I expect Mr. Sitter to apply his flamethrower (running low on ammo yet?) to me in about three seconds after I hit reply.
