Welcome to IWETHEY!

New learned something today on public transpo
I park in the $1.00 lot by the muni bus terminal and ride the free downtown shuttle to work (8 blocks, lazy bassar plus they have air conditioning) this am was entertained by several elder, working class black women who gave me some insight via a mild political sermon

I have to pay $100 dollars for my medicine, I can only work part time cause they dont want to pay benefits, my grankids lost their medical and dental cause of bush

that cheney lies, what they ever do for the black people

Im gonna vote, Im gonna drag my 3 daughters to the poll and makem vote, no police gonna stop me from voting

well one good thing bush did was making people go to work, at leat they arnt on welfae, uh huh, but the jobs are lousy, amen

I interject
" we need a 3rd party which isnt dominated by rich white men who cares about the working people"

well said but edwards started small and made big, those other three were hand fed

republicans aint never gonna help the black people, democrats dont either but they dont stop us from advancing

lets say this is going to get interesting

New Blacks overwhelmingly vote Democrat
They have ever since Kennedy and Johnson addressed race in a big way.

Ethnic groups vary in which party they vote for, but most tend strongly one way or another. And at least one regularly switches parties - Armenians vote for whoever last said that they will recognize the Armenian genocide in WW I. (Conducted by what is now Turkey.) Dole said he would do it in 1996, Kerry says it now. Whether it will happen is in doubt though, Turkey strenuously objects to that recognition and has managed to keep the USA from doing it over the years.

Cheers,
Ben

New The story I heard, to stop folks from voting Democrat,
was that the Republians mail as many African-Americans as they can lay their grubby little protuberances on, telling them that if they turn up to vote, they'll be checked for any outstanding warrants, fines, etc, etc, and will be basically arrested on the spot if any are found.

ie: better for the republicans that they don't vote at all, rather than vote Democrat.

I'd say it was shocking, but it's polticians we're talking about. And this is just a 'my friend said...' story, I've not read about it anywhere.
Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
New I've heard pretty much the same thing
And it would explain the comment that was overheard about the police not stopping the woman from voting.

Cheers,
Ben

New At least he or she might get a free carton of cigarrettes
for their trouble... If they live in Milwaukee that is.
