New debian sarge

regards, no net installs thanks
daemon
New You only need the first CD
That's the base install. The rest you can install off the network.

New Not meaning the rest is net install btw.
Base image and OS on 1st CD. Plus most common packages.

Best way to install is extreme basic install then apt-get only the things you need after that.
If you push something hard enough, it will fall over. Fudd's First Law of Opposition

New Why not net installs?
This makes far more sense.

The netinst iso I showed you, does the base-install and then goes into Installing and downloading the sarge packages for anything you want.

You could do it. The Net install is not as bad as you think.

And if you decide you have to have the CDs. The CDs farther up in numbers have the less and less installed (popular) packages.

I'd only D/L the first 3 or 4 to start.
