Trying to set up a smb client and want to find available SMB servers. What's the command to find the available servers?

New Hmm. Not sure.
The easiest way to looking unfortunately requires you already know the name of one server: smbclient -L host will list, among other things, that host's browse list. You should be able to get one such name with nmblookup -M - but I've never done it that way before; I've always known a server to rummage on.

New Hmm...So how do *they* do it?

There's clearly a query / discovery protocol. How does one run it from the command line?

Chapter 4 describes what you are looking for. Unfortunatley, I couldn't find any traces of an existing CLI tool.
