Yet, I can't help but infer by the tone of your links that you consider this to be on par with Nixon's attempt at coverup in watergate. That's quite a stretch. In the first place, the media has quite a system of checks and balances in place to ensure that their "cover up" does not go without notice - bloggers and other media outlets that are in competition are the obvious. When, however, the "cover up" is done by those who control the apparatus of the government, it's a whole 'nuther ball game.

Me, I don't trust the media, but their only leverage over me is their ability to sway opinion. The government, OTOH, has their hands in practically everything about my life - and that control is only getting worse and worse under a Republican administration.
