New Putin blames Clinton
Found at www.lucianne.com:

Putin's government had warned the Clinton administration about bin Laden last June, saying the Saudi dissident's camps in Afghanistan were supplying Islamic militants to fight in the breakaway republic of Chechnya. But Russian officials said the Americans showed little interest in the warning. "We certainly were counting on a more active cooperation in combating international terrorism."

Sometimes "tolerance" is just a word for not dealing with things.
New Tee Vee - last night. Putin interview.
Got a tip that Putin would be interviewed on Primetime, last night. He was; somewhat less smarmy questions and some tough ones.

Didn't read the link yet - but he pretty much said as much - tactfully but not 'weaseling' either. He came across as much more human than goes the pop stereotype: and well informed (with humor!) about the Murican presumptions about him. He described his KGB work as being about analysis and 'not in the field' (when asked what I deemed a typ. smarmy US-reporter question, "Did you ever kill anyone?").

He said some statesman-like! things in this interview IMhO, esp. re ABM, NATO (the dance to get the Estonia/Latvia folk in, on his border) - and overall I'm relieved for having seen him, his words and his body language. This is no dummy or mouth-breathing didact.

My 3 kopeks.
New Re: Tee Vee - last night. Putin interview.
The question should have been "Did you ever kill anyone, even indirectly?"

It would, of course, be not to his knowledge. Yeh, right.

New Probably what she did say..
I'm not sure now, but believe it Was phrased that way as in "..or order such". Give it 60/40. Dunno if this prog. puts transcripts on web, but I hope Dubya was watching - and noting that Putin did not wince at assigning some sort of blame to C, while also attempting to portray his Other concerns of that time.. I have a pretty good Weasel-watch and - he never did that - diplomacy OTOH is Mandatory with any sane Head of a State. N'est ce p\ufffds?

20/20 hindsight is such a Wonderful means for generating BS about how Stupid X was not to have seen: __

(who spent a year in Moscow in early '90s - Yeltsin then) re her impressions of him.. now, and exactly how his name is supposed to be pronounced (!) Pu'tin but the 'u' takes some mouth work if ya wanna sound Russki.

In a word, inconclusive except - he's sharp (D'Oh - he won). Will have to hope that coming events can clean up the US/Rus leftover ill will, StarWars promises of more wasted $ and Rubles etc. We need to have just a few.. folk out there - that we don't instantly piss-off, y'know?
