Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Not forgotten
I've been figuring out where to eat. (The big problem was figuring out whether I'll have a car, I won't.)

I'd like to suggest [link|http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/92522/?cslink=cs_boc_lw_2_5|Chan Dara]. Getting there is easy. Take 10 W into Santa Monica, take the North Bundy exit (first exit after 405), right on Pico (first possible turn), it is on that block on the right. Decent Thai food in a pleasant atmosphere.

If you'd prefer Indian food, directly across the street is [link|http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/92474/los_angeles_ca/bombay_cafe.html?cslink=search_name_cust&ulink=_2_searchslot13_520__1_profile_2_1|Bombay Cafe]. According to Zaggat, consistently the best Indian food in the city. The food there is better, but the space is not as pleasant.

Cheers,
Ben

New I would perhaps suggest . . .
. . the Thai. I am not a restaurant person and will have no time to investigate restaurants on short notice, and going to and from a restaurant wastes face time as does dealing with the staff and the high cost of wine is a negative, so I will be serving here. Since Indian is what I've been doing lately, that's what it will be (it is mostly already done).

On the other hand, it will be southern (somewhat toned down southern since I don't know the chili tolerance of the guests), so there may be little comonality. Restaurants in the U.S. generally serve Muslim influenced Mogali cuisine from the north because that has been established as successful here.

New Thai would be good as would most any others.
In any case, fine dining is quite secondary to the event. We could even transport you from work to the restaurant and then drop you off at home.

My wife and I would have seen Andrew the night before.

New Then let's do Thai
I'm fine getting there, but a ride home would be appreciated. (Work is halfway between home and the restaurant.)

Cheers,
Ben

It'll be gradual, but faster than you expect. One day it won't be there, and the next day you'll be surprised at just how fast it still isn't.
