Well, there was a telling interview in the Times. Bowa basically said, "I look at my players left to me (after injuries), and it's just not there". He's telling his players that they can't hack it. Faced with the same situation, with all the pundits in Atlanta predicting disaster, Bobby Cox said "Hey, we've got good players - we'll figure out a way to adjust until we get everyone healthy" - he's telling his players that they're a good team. Result - this is the best Braves team ever in some ways - certainly the best team spirit - right now Cox is a shoo-in for manager of the year. This season has been his masterpiece. Between the Braves and the Cards, I'm in baseball Nirvana :)
