when I was running my own shop open source was often puked on because I charged to install and maintain it. They didnt understand the sheer fact that costs were going to be lower. I remember one client balking at paying for a CD from redhat because I could download it for free. I old them point blank that by paying for a CD they would have a quick restore if something broke but I wasnt going to download it on my dime and install at their site gratis.
they bought WinNT instead.
