Today.
I had been experiencing a vchannel problem on the dsl router. It was kinda like a DoS, but it was between the DSL Router/Modem and the head end. Each one saying "Hello... are you there?" each letting stuff through when they hear each other... through all of the chatter from them. I envision a who's on first type of thing.
Evidently it was a known problem... The 1 e-mail I had in my inbox that was new... the one I couldn't get from home, was from UU.NET (really mci/worldcom) to power down the router for at least 20 seconds. Then it should come backup and restart 3 times. All parts of a firmware update.
It only took about about 2 minutes, but that was a long 2 minutes in my book.

iwetheyNo matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]Here is an example: [link|http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm001-ie/|Executing arbitrary commands without Active Scripting or ActiveX when using Windows]
