Been busy getting eCS installed. Today I'm catching up on yard work, but tonight I'll be working on getting PCMCIA support installed. The PCCARD driver included with eCS on disk 3 has a problem when I try to install it. I ran the self extracting archive to extract to e:\\temp. During the driver install a message pops up "file not found" and references a subdirectory below temp(there's a "..." in the path so I don't know the full path). The file referenced is in e:\\temp\\ but there are no subdirectories.
Also, something during the install of eCS killed Win98(it won't boot, no messages, just a solid disk light). Basically I did the following:
1) made recovery diskette(no included OS CDs - recover CD can be ordered if needed)
2) use partition magic to shrink C:
3) use partition magic to move up the "recovery partition" from the end of the disk
3) tried the recovery partition (F11 during Win98 boot) to make sure it still worked after being moved(it's just a FAT directory)
4) booted eCS CD, ran LVM and installed Boot Manager
5) was unable to added a partition for eCS
6) booted to Win98 - this was via the Boot Manager
7) used partition magic to create Logical drives d: (windata) and e:(ecs)
8) booted eCS and set e: for the install
9) eCS installed fine
10) booting to Win98 now hangs - it worked via boot manager before, so don't know what happened
11) booting recovery diskette hangs too
