Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Damn this fucking swampland called Houston
Last night I'm in night class. Around 6:30 the rain comes down hard. About 7 PM the security guard interrupts class saying "Anybody with a car out front better move it cause the parking lot is flooding". We all walk up front to scope it out - the water is at the top of the curb, the lawn is almost flooded to the point where you can't see any grass, and the primary street out front has a car abandoned in the flooded intersection. A bunch of us make the trek to check out the back parking lot. A lot of cars have water up to their rims.

uh oh.

I borrow an umbrella, do a hopscotch walk to avoid puddles where possible, and get to the lot to see it's a lake. In 1/2 hour a several hundred car lot is a fucking lake. And my car is in the deep end.

Run back to the doorway, give the kid his umbrella back, and go back to class to get my stuff and tell teach "I'm outta here". Thankfully, he had already called off the rest of the evening's class. Go back outside, take off shoes and socks, roll Dockers up above knees, and walk to car. Step off curb, very slowly make for my car

THEN GET HIT WITH A WAVE AS SOME FUCKING TEXAS ASSHOLE FLIES BY IN HIS SUV!!!!!

Dammit I wish I had a multi-fire bazooka! The juvenile prick deserves to die quick and painfully. Now I'm wet up to my asshole. Get to car, see that the water is about 1 inch below the bottom of the door. BTW, it's still raining buckets, I don't have an umbrella, one hand is holding my shoes and the other has a bookbag perched on my head. Open it up, get in gingerly, and pray as I start it up. It turns over. YAY!!! Then I take my shit off my lap and swing around to put it on the back seat.

The floor has two inches of brackish water.

OH FUCK ME!

Oh so slowly I back out of the parking spot, ease it forward and search for high ground with an exit. Don't have one. Pick the least worst option. Now I make it out and head for the back road to avoid the ocean in front of the school. Turning left faces a flooded 2 lane road - not an option. Go right. 1/2 mile away is a steep incline for a railroad crossing. Take it as slowly as I can, but you can't fight gravity: the water shifts to soak the bottom of the rear seat, then as I cross, most of it decides to flow forward and drench the front floor.

So now I have to have the A/C on to defog the windows while I drive home for 45 minutes with wet feet, I have a few gallons of standing water in the back, bottom of the front and back seats are wet, carpet and padding are lake bottoms, and it's still coming down like Noah saw it.

Used my shop vac to remove the standing water and suck out of the carpet some of it. Had a beer and crashed in bed.

Woke up, called around, found a detail shop that could take me right away. Drove over, had them rip everything out, then argued that I couldn't leave the car and walk several miles to go rent something since it's been raining all morning. Had them put the driver's seat back in and told them to dry out the carpet and padding before spraying them with Lysol to prevent the mold. Owner comes over and says "I don't know, but it doesn't look like we'll be able to save the padding". I'm looking at labor of $300 so far, and the potential of another few hundred for new padding and/or carpeting. All for a car that now I'll never be able to resell in good conscience. Plus, I have to schedule a trip to the dealer to have the engine, electronics, brakes, etc. checked out - another couple hundred bucks.

This fucking useless swamp town should be nuked. Gulf of Mexico is 50 miles away and they're too stupid to figure out how to DRAIN RAINWATER INTO IT EFFECTIVELY. No, they decided to use THE STREETS as a place to store rainwater while the inadequate storm sewer system backs up whenever somebody pisses in the gutter.

as a genuine scream of frustration, like when you need to hit something and you're not in a padded room but at home with the wife and kids.

Talked to the detailer this morning - the carpet has been saved, but the padding is a total loss. Now my $300 has jumped to $500, and I have an appointment with the dealer next week, cause he's too fuckin' busy to see me any earlier. "Hello. My car was in water so that I got 2 inched in the back seat. If I drive it until you have an opening, can I possibly damage the engine?"

"I dunno."

Fuckin' useless pus-filled primordial piece of slime dealer counter phone guy!!!

New You signed up just so you could post that?
What's the matter, did you knock your Sprite into the fryolater again and got fired, so now you have nothing better to do?

Tell you what: once you get your own computer and don't have to use the content-restricted login from your mom's AOL account, maybe you can visit some of the fora where they use strong language. Then maybe you'll learn that just saying "fuck" doesn't count as a flame.

You have to use it more creatively, like:
  • Shut up before I have to fuck your mother again.
  • Did you type that on purpose, or were you fucking the keyboard?
  • You shouldn't fuck with people having real problems until you have a few of your own. Nocturnal emmissions don't count: you'll be having them until you're all the way through puberty.
Try USENET. I'm sure some people there would be happy to give you more examples.

not that it is wrong or anything, just that he won't be able to understand what you are saying. Use simple words, and short sentences.

Burning_Wheel, does your mother know you use her AOL account? I am sorry that the other kids pick on you at school. You must learn that posting to old posts is not acceptable. Your attempt at making a flame is feeble at best. Just wait until your father hits his thumb with a hammer and then post some of the words that he uses. It is all right, we understand your condition. Take your time, think about it, go away for a while, and then come back when you learned something.

It's a Yahoo group run by Orion, and there aren't many who participate in it, mostly me, him, Trip and Tony, (both from my group).

It used to be populated by multiples of Orion but recently he started the IWT 12 step with Tony coaching, and he deleted all the multiples I knew about.

New The reason I say...
pptp, mstse and microsoft-ds are all open ports.

Typically that does indicate a machine with a remote desktop capacity, and the fact it has 22, 25 and 80 open tells me it is some one allowing these kinds of services.

To me, there is enough to say: Norm took advantage of the service provided (prolly guest) and browsed here.

Look up what remote desktop is (as offered by Terminal Services in WindowsXP Professional)

New Okay, I'll ask John to help me analyze the data later
He's the one who helped me before, I only know how to match IP numbers.

I'm sorry if he really has regressed, Greg, but he's really upset, since my Ex-fiance called him last night and accused me of violating a restraining order that never existed in the first place (so it appears), and he upset Norman a lot. That combined with the accident and stuff, and I think he's overwhelmed.

I'm trying to get some control of the situation before leaving, but I won't be here all day, so I apologize if I can't help much.

And yeah, I know, I know. He ended our friendship, but what can I say, I still give a damn. ;)

his ISP and the machine in question.

I have already gotten British Telecom's logs...

And they have asked me to only review these logs, not to publish them.

I see the entire conversation through the final router at btopen.

I see the requests to *Z*, I also see requests from St. Loius to Port 3389 and the use of PPTP (port 1723) for the data channel.

Remote Desktop was used from St Louis to the Machine Address in Question.

BTW, BTopen said they will monitor the situation and see what happens.

The request to Worldcom, said it will take a couple of days. But they will get it to me.

I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point, but finding out it came to St. Louis makes me slightly skeptical.

But I can't confront him with it on speculation, I need the concrete proof to get anywhere.

New Ultimately, it don't really matter
I might suggest that Orion not post replies to any new user account, as it's likely to be suspicious, especially in the confines of the flame forum.
New Great suggestion, Chris
He said if anyone wants to talk to him about this mess, or anything else, they can come to IWT Yahoo and do it.

He also said Greg is welcome to check all the logs and routers, and he thinks they will vindicate him. That's up to Greg.

Only other thing I can suggest is if he does come in here (he said he would try to stay away again for a little bit), and act crazy, maybe just ignore him.

He really is trying, despite what anyone might believe, and the proof can be read in the Yahoo group.

Catch you all later... good luck.

If you want to be generous, mark it as an incident waiting for later confirmation or disproof. Don't make a big deal about it, but be very up front about how you'll react if you get direct evidence that he was lying.

Given past history, I'd be inclined right now to not be generous. That is I'd assume at this point that he's probably lying. It is up to you how you would react to that. If that assumption turns out to be bad, then you can apologize later.

My philosophy is that a trust that has been repeatedly broken should not be lightly given again.

That's more or less what I did Ben, I told him as of now, I don't see proof, but if I do, I'm gonna be upset. I didn't make a big deal, I hope.

True, but I've been watching him post in the Yahoo group, and I've been watching him improve there and in mine. I also know he got terribly upset last night from my Ex-fiance, and that may have unbalanced him some. But there is real evidence out there that he is trying hard.

And I also feel kinda like I owe him a little, because he did warn me about my Ex's accusations.

My philosophy is that a trust that has been repeatedly broken should not be lightly given again.

Have a good day. :)

Brenda
