If it were myself, I'd have a Primary & Secondary Master adding cheap compute nodes. Scalable, usually fast and dependable. Seperate the compute nodes to a seperate LAN, as cluster traffic gets a bit busy from time to time. I'd do bonding with those 2 or 4 ports NICS hanging around from INtel and (formerly) Adaptec.
