Funny, I was just thinking along the same lines.
Was just thinking what would happen if on a whim I decided to invite myself and book a ticket to the US for July 4.
The answer of course is not a lot, especially since I don't have a passport. But still, a short trip the US, that time of year, would probably have me appearing on somebody's screen, somewhere.

And get a passport then. ;-)

Next year is shaping up to have more people, then.
There's at least one other furriner hoping to come next year too.
Of course if you're going to bother flying all that way, you may as well make a holiday of it. There's room at my house if you need a place to sleep in Michigan.

Look out, might take you up on that :)
Many thanks for the offer. Since I'd be flying in the peak period it'd probably be sensible to take advantage of some reasonably priced accomodation. Heck, I know how to cook and clean - I can contribute :)

Although... not sure what the itinerary would be...
It is the Detroit area, after all... so, we could go get mugged, run over, and then arrested for disturbing the peace!
There's always the Windsor Ballet, I guess. ;-)

'salright, wouldn't trouble you for long.
I go by the old adage 'After three days, fish and houseguests begin to smell'. :)
Ballet? Ah, I get it, you're trying to keep me away from Detroit, right? (It's working...) :-)

Er, well...
The [link|http://www.columbuswired.net/Columns/Sirk/Windsor_061303.htm|Windsor Ballet] isn't exactly... ballet... of a sort, I guess.
Seriously though, there's the [link|http://www.detroitsymphony.org/|symphony], an [link|http://www.motopera.org/|opera house] (where [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=153568|I saw] the Magic Flute with my son), a very nice [link|http://www.dia.org/|art museum], the [link|http://www.henryfordmuseum.com/|Henry Ford Museum], and other things that I'm sure I've forgotten since I live here.

OK, having looked up Windsor Ballet...
allow me to rephrase my previous comment.
Windsor Ballet? Ah, I get it, you're trying to keep me away from Detroit Canada, right? :)
Ta for linking that article - Steve Sirk's a good writer!

That would be two, then...
You're forgetting 1) the big arsed lakes and 2) the Henry Ford.
So when I go to the museum again next week, where should I look to find your wife's stuff?

Both the gift shop
and the Native America display. She donated a basket in 1990 It was on display in the case with the Native American stuff. They didnt have any eskimo art at the time. The Gift shop purchased 2 of her baskets, (probably long gone by now.) thanx, bill
