New war on terrorism - personal rights curtailed - are guns next

Am wondering if the next step might be to attempt to disarm US citizens as part of the war against terrorism.

Is this a possibility or does the NRA still have the ability to prevent ?

Am wondering about this from the thread on photos at airports & notes on planes ? - surely if that can be done, private guns will be next !

I would think that would cut both ways. With no guns, the Americans cannot defend themselves (even if only from each other), with guns terrorists have easier access.

But then the WTC bombers used utility knives, and McVeigh used a homemade bomb.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a push for more deputies and law enforcement so that we had more controlled guns on the streets where they might come in handy. I wouldn't necessarily want to see armed civilians walking around...I...ah have seen the neighbors and those people in particular really shouldn't have those guns.
