SQL is in effect a domain-specific language for describing search operations that can be very efficiently optimized based on indexes, etc.


He also goes on about his project to integrate the [link|http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/wcook/Drafts/CookRaiOOPSLA04.pdf|ER-Model into OO langauges], which might be of interest to anyone that actually is doing more than just rehashing tired old arguments.
