You think that's bad.
Try living in North Carolina and watching college basketball. Talk about over-exposure. UNC Chapel Hill is the definitive case.
I grew up in Southern California, so I was a very late coming hockey fan (circa 1992). Growing up I detested the Lakers and was a huge New York Knick fan (Earl the Pearl, Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Dave Debuscher, Dollar Bill Bradley, Jerry Lucas, Phil Jackson and - my favorite - Hawthorne Wingo era).
My two hockey teams have always been the Leafs and the Wings, but I pull hard for any original six team. Since becoming a regular hockey fan, I just can't watch any other sport. It all seems so slooowwwwww. Like during "March Insanity" Sunday night when Clarke was on 60 minutes. I turn the tv channel, good, I think, 2 1/2 minutes left in the basketball game and 20 minutes before 60 minutes is supposed to start. Time 60 Minutes actually started? 5 minutes late. No joke - it took 25 minutes to play 2.5 minutes of basketball. I thought, "Good God. How did I ever stand to watch this kind of snail race? You could play a full hockey period in the amount of time it takes these goobers to play 2.5 minutes of basketball!"
I keep hoping for a Toronto-Detroit final. I thought this might be the year, but I dunno. Our guys are old and fragile. Gotta figure Belfour's back has a low probability of lasting that long. Plus, w/Mats out, we lose a lot. Oh well, tomorrow night is going to be very exciting.
