Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Time for iwethey to go to work
[link|http://dailynews.yahoo.com/htx/nm/20011025/ts/attack_pentagon_ideas_dc_1.html|idea's needed] we are a think tank of sorts and some of us could use the work. Maybe we could kick some solid ideas around, have one of our better wordsmiths put into a one page doc and see if we could get a contract for implementation.

New Instructions for BAA #02-Q-4655 here.
Hi Bill,

Don't you just love news stories which don't tell you how to get more information? :-(

[link|http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Oct2001/b10252001_bt540-01.html|Here] is a more detailed DoD news release telling you how to reply to Broad Agency Announcement 02-Q-4655. It points to a 24 page PDF you can download (dated 10/23/01).

Responding to a BAA isn't for the faint of heart...

Cheers,
Scott.
New Re: Instructions for BAA #02-Q-4655 here.
And they tell me there's even more info at:

[link|http://www.bids.tswg.gov|http://www.bids.tswg.gov]

But their server is either underpowered or it's having the $#1t pounded out of it. Probably both.

Oh, well -- my idea's half-baked and someone else is going to think of it. Besides that, if you win, you have to go out and PRODUCE whatever you thought of, and it's not my field.

Mozilla 0.95 didn't work. And I thought they wanted thinking out of the box!

New We may have much more to contend with.. after today:
I'll await Karsten's post with links re the NO DEBATE passage of the so-called Patriot Act and its implications for all - and for likely many of our web-links (flushed from Yahoo and others' ??? caches already) - via what filter/rubric? we may never discover.

Here's (just) Rep. Scott's (VA) comment before the rush to sign, unread, undebated this hideous piece of legislation, operative IN THE USA starting *today*:

First of all, I think it is appropriate to comment on the process by
which the bill is coming to us. This is not the bill that was reported
and deliberated on in the Committee on the Judiciary. It came to us
late on the floor. No one has really had an opportunity to look at the
bill to see what is in it since we have been out of our offices. The
report has just come to us. It would be helpful if we would wait for
some period of time so that we can at least review what we are voting
on, but I guess that is not going to stop us, so here we are.
First of all, this has limited to do with terrorism. This bill is
general search warrant and wiretap law. It is not just limited to
terrorism. Had it been limited to terrorism, this bill could have
passed 3 or 4 weeks ago without much discussion, but we are talking
about wiretapping law.

This will, of course require its own thread..
(Wait til you see Who decides if a detainee is an alien? or a Terrorist? - reviewed every er SIX MONTHS! while in custody with a blank check)

If we aren't quite fucked yet, the clothes are off and the handcuffs to bed-rails are firmly clicked down, while the men are examining for marks of That Ol' Debbil - inside every cavity. Salem deja vu, Kameraden Geheime Staats Polizei.

Ashton
It Begins. That which we got 'Selected' for us, now in full Right-wing flight, fear- cant- inspired and.. circular, where only one Wing operates at all.
New My answer: COMMUNICATION
Not so much for military purposes, but a conter-measure so that military action is not the key tool to fight terrorism.

Talk to governments, talk to the people, talk to religious groups and get some meaningful dialog going. There is no way that people around the world condone a group of religious extremists going around telling the global village it is their duty to kill all members of a country, race or religion.

I realize that many will think that the time for talking is over, but I suggest that the time for communication is never over for those that desire a peaceful solution as opposed to a violent one.

P.S. I bet you didn't see this answer coming. (:
New Here is what the govt is specifically looking for
here are the areas they want input, some of these are doable by us folks. Some arnt.
