New Batch of info?
You mean the info on what this guy is saying? First take a few breaths into a paper bag, then read below to get some context.

[link|http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13881-2004Mar21.html|Condi Rice begs to differ]

Excerpt:

Before Sept. 11, we closely monitored threats to our nation. President Bush revived the practice of meeting with the director of the CIA every day -- meetings that I attended. And I personally met with George Tenet regularly and frequently reviewed aspects of the counterterror effort.

Through the summer increasing intelligence "chatter" focused almost exclusively on potential attacks overseas. Nonetheless, we asked for any indication of domestic threats and directed our counterterrorism team to coordinate with domestic agencies to adopt protective measures. The FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration alerted airlines, airports and local authorities, warning of potential attacks on Americans.

Despite what some have suggested, we received no intelligence that terrorists were preparing to attack the homeland using airplanes as missiles, though some analysts speculated that terrorists might hijack airplanes to try to free U.S.-held terrorists. The FAA even issued a warning to airlines and aviation security personnel that "the potential for a terrorist operation, such as an airline hijacking to free terrorists incarcerated in the United States, remains a concern."

Excerpt:

Yet terror had already emerged on America's shores eight years earlier, when the mysterious terrorist mastermind, Ramzi Yousef (arrested after a botched attempt to down a dozen U.S. airlines) bombed the World Trade Center in an attempt to fell the buildings. His attacks were viewed as the harbinger of a new terrorism, carried out by an elusive enemy driven by religious fanaticism to unprecedented hatred of the United States.

But is that perception accurate? A real-life detective story, The War Against America engages the reader in a gripping examination of the evidence regarding Yousef and his terrorism. It reveals the split between New York and Washington that emerged during the investigation and tells a terrifying tale of America left exposed and vulnerable following the mishandling of what was once the most ambitious terrorist attack ever attempted on U.S. soil.

[link|http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/143|securityfocus columnist casts aspersions on Clarke's competence]

Excerpt:

The retirement of Richard Clarke is appropriate to the reality of the war on terror. Years ago, Clarke bet his national security career on the idea that electronic war was going to be real war. He lost, because as al Qaeda and Iraq have shown, real action is still of the blood and guts kind.

In happier times prior to 9/11, Clarke -- as Bill Clinton's counter-terror point man in the National Security Council -- devoted great effort to convincing national movers and shakers that cyberattack was the coming thing. While ostensibly involved in preparations for bioterrorism and trying to sound alarms about Osama bin Laden, Clarke was most often seen in the news predicting ways in which electronic attacks were going to change everything and rewrite the calculus of conflict.

September 11 spoiled the fun, though, and electronic attack was shoved onto the back-burner in favor of special operations men calling in B-52 precision air strikes on Taliban losers. One-hundred fifty-thousand U.S. soldiers on station outside Iraq make it perfectly clear that cyberspace is only a trivial distraction.

Saddam will not be brought down by people stealing his e-mail or his generals being spammed with exhortations to surrender.

Well, that should do for starters. What, you didn't know there was another side? That's what happens when you hang out with idiotarians and think with your hindbrain.

Info gets easier to parse the more of the dataset you have.

DEAL WITH IT.
Americans: a pack, not a herd.
Never mind all the mass graves. Where's the nerve gas?

New you mean the Mylroie Canard?
[link|http://slate.msn.com/id/116232/|http://slate.msn.com/id/116232/] I think this has been hashed before, So now you are Certain that Saddam was the force behind 911 and not Osama, are you sure this time? What if your masters change their minds again?

I like the fact that the guy was in Intelligence for 30 years but was only incompetent during the current administration.

So the only reason we invaded Iraq is because Bush and Co found out that it wasnt Osama Bin Laden, but Saddam.

You mean Bush never had an Iraq Jones? Funny the SecTreasury O'Neil begs to differ, he was a quack also? I would be leary of following leaders who appoint so many incompetants to high office.
thanx,
bill

The soul and substance of what customarily ranks as patriotism is moral cowardice and always has been...We have thrown away the most valuable asset we had-- the individual's right to oppose both flag and country when he (just he, by himself) believed them to be in the wrong. We have thrown it away; and with it all that was really respectable about that grotesque and laughable word, Patriotism.

- Mark Twain, "Monarchical and Republican Patriotism"
New Condi Rice lying through her teeth!
Did you see that "performance" on CNN? It was all she could do to keep her voice from cracking, and it took her entire being to form a coherent, complete sentence. This is the sign of a person who is lying through his/her teeth; having been coached and coached and coached on what the "correct answer" is, when the subject knows full well that what s/he is spounting is abject bullshit.

You're an expert in psyco-physiology, Philbert, (just ask yerself), so this isn't news to you.

(But, boy, do I wish I could see your body language when you issue your oh-so-predictable reply to this post!)

shrub\ufffdbish (Am., from shrub + rubbish, after the derisive name for America's 43 president; 2003) n. 1. a form of nonsensical political doubletalk wherein the speaker attempts to defend the indefensible by lying, obfuscation, or otherwise misstating that facts; GIBBERISH. 2. any of a collection of utterances from America's putative 43rd president. cf. BULLSHIT
New But Condi Rice doesn't want to testify in public.
Why? They say it to maintain "Administrative Privilege". Right. More likely, the PK (preacher's kid) does not want to lie under oath.

New Today at the hearing
..someone mentioned it would be "nice" if she would deign to appear - and applause spontaneously burst forth from the sober crowd - many of whom are relatives of victims.

Then Clarke apologized to the families for missing the beat - and when it was pointed out that he is the ONLY person so far to do so, a HUGE round of applause (for a Congressional hearing) erupted.

I think Bushco is in more trouble than even the polls reflect. Fox is in full desperation mode.
