BAGHDAD, March 05 (Online): American soldiers and Iraqi police arrested a former intelligence officer under Saddam Hussein suspected of overseeing a cell of extremists, the military said on Thursday, along with 13 followers.
Sami Ahmed was captured on late Wednesday, said Maj Josslyn Aberle of the Tikrit-based 4th Infantry Division, adding that he and 13 other Iraqis were arrested near Baqouba, north of Baghdad. Five Iraqi police were wounded in separate attacks in northern Iraq.
