Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Can't help with this as I haven't had luck either...
Went ahead and put [link|http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/products/|http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/products/] this product on my old laptop. It works like a charm... I'm too used to Panther apps however; and Yellow Dog is either or. You may wish to consider X11 and then KDE'ing or Gnoming your session... I do this now and use Fink Commander to grab my apps and make files. Many of my favorite Linux titles are also BSD'd... It's a different paradigm, but one you might wish to consider.

OHHHH! and one last thing, don't be an ass clown like me and try to install Windows 2003 Server on VP6 unless you like to run fsck -y add infinitum until you reinstall OSX (or makefs)...
Just a few thoughts,

New Re: My mystery deepens

I reinstalled a clean VPC 6.0 on our old iBook running OSX & this time I *didn't* add the MS 6.1.1 upgrade.

Linux installed ok !!!

Hmmmm

Now I will just disk copy this to the G4 using the boot G4 machine as a firewire disk

New Re:Both Apples similar cept one is
one OS X release newer (but other is updated to it).

Despite being able to install Linux under VPC 6 on the iBook, it is proving a PITB to operate compared to earlier versions of VPC (4 & 5 on Apple & 4 & 5 on Windows).

This ver 6 won't intercept the Fx keys (which screws up screen switching in Linux). It works fine on my Win VPC 5.0 with Linux installed.

It is begining to look suspiciously like the way MS will ruin Linux on VPC.

Another frustralion is trying to switch the cursor between Linux & OS X, to do it the only way I can find (after reading the manual) is the minimise the Linux vpc with (Apple-key, M) then the cursor is free, then maximise Linux icon again.

On Windows with VPC there is a 2 key seq that takes the curso in & out of the Linux window.

I am lucky in that I have
VPC for Apple: versions 4 5 & 6 to compare with and for Windows
I have 4, 4.x & 5, 5.x to compare with.

Microsoft are offering a $US15 upgrade if you have a licensed copy of VPC 4,5,6so I will avail them of the offer & will test out what other features are changing.

My conclusion at this time is that Microsoft may have begun a program of screwing Linux on VPC, with Apple ver 6 & Will do so in Windows VPC 6 as well.
