However, if push comes to shove he will be sacrificed as the one responsible for the lies should that become neccessary. Chalabi lived most of his life outside Iraq. Went to best schools in the west. Is wanted by Jordan for that country's largest bank fraud. His only interest in Iraq was to replace one unpopular dictaorship with his own & he knew repubs had an agenda because he became a key part of it. Chalabi is a 'not nice' type of person. One only has to Google his name combined with a particular keyword (like fraud) to uncouver a pattern and a history of subterfuge & trouble. try it .... Chalabi Fraud, Chalabi Lies, Chalabi History, Chalabi Disinformation, Chalabi Republicans, Chalabi Power, Chalabi Hero, This man is not quite another Marcos or Suharto, at least they were leaders of sorts in their own countries before bumped into power by our western manipulation. I am inclined to think that the result on the country will be the same though (rampant business corruption, pillage, nepotism, & cronyism - both Phillipines & Indonesia are business basket cases as a result of their past leadership & what they were permitted to get away with) Doug M

The PNAC people needed a publicly acceptable reason to invade Iraq. Chalabi has been trying to get anybody to overthrow Saddam for him, including Bush Sr and Clinton. Chalabi feeding the PNAC group at the Pentagon bogus / exaggerated intelligence was simply a marriage of convenience. Still, the US might hang Chalabi out to dry if we need to. If, by some chance, it gets to the point where we need to prosecute somebody, Chalabi is the obvious target. Jay
