A Corp which [STILL!!!] alienates their own dealers by baldfaced lying and then (the outright fraud re the person's commission) .. causes me to ponder the Dell-like-ness. There seems no surcease from the disgusting habits of The Beast; that stinking too-massive example which is now emulated by the more disgusting Corp bastards everywhere. Of course, if you're lucky and your gear just works and you don't have to deal with The Company - I guess one can tune it out; still.. it's the sort of stench which, for me - dissipiates the Urge to Appleize. Y'know? I've heard tales for a decade plus, of cheap shit stuff re Apple dealers, and from some ex-ones = of similar kind. A sl. different scale than the wholesale diarrhea of Billy n'Bally, perhaps - but shameless crap that betrays the mental illness/depravity Stevie Boy retains, as unaltered as Billy Boy et al :( Such fuckers just never grow Up. I don't want to support them (but if I Had to Compute - to survive, I'd likely find a way to rationalize like everyone else who, say, shops at Walmart. Anyway. Maybe I would..) Pity, that. Nestl\ufffd, Walmart, Beast.. the list gets longer as US style bizness permeates everywhere, like stale cigar smoke. (Nestl\ufffd learned it all on their own, though - even pre-Beast. Baby formula days..)

See.. somehow I have been able to keep this 98-lite Install from either self-destruct or other-destruct. Since 7/01, no RRR. Odd, no? So I'm really curious just how long it can last -- and it's not likely that I grok something special (certainly not in this crowd) so it must be that, because I ask it to do so little, do not play Install/Remove games and otherwise fill up the Reg. with fragments of crap: Maybe I've found a build + duty light enough that even Doze can do it !? Maybe {shudder} even I shall have to admit that, there are a few simple tasks which Doze can handle repeatedly, if initially dejunked by 98-lite. (Running 24/7 not being among those). Natch, all that would change instantly, were I to imagine a need for a network. Meanwhile, I see I'll be looking for any opportunity to phase in an Apple in parallel -- by convincing self: This. Can't. Last. $$ is a factor, but then -

Even with "generic" component homebrews (which I am looking at for my new Playstation 2/kids box) are fraught with dances with numerous devils... Will it be AMD or Intel inside? dah dah dah dah. Will I use Quantum or Seagate? What BIOS manufacturer, ad nauseum. I've had bad dealings with all companies. I'm already dealing with untold Asian slave laborers, endlessly redundant no-help lines, etc. and I still haven't even put an OS on it. Even a BSD'd or Linux'd box is not sinless from the type of malfeasence you are applying to Apple. This is no attempt to downplay the sleaze described in your link, just an attempt to put it into perspective. There is no "sinless" box. And to play junior's educational games, I'll need to load Windows... In my best Paul Harvey voice, "and now you know the rest of the story"... They make great products but have been screwing the people trying to help them since the Apple II days. I never quite understand what goes on in the minds of the suits making these decisions. Likely too, as Todd reminds, probably much of their dealer-screwing comes from initial ignorance, then the ex-soap-seller CIEIO days and all-along - the ethics-free formatory years of Steverino. Anyway, prolly I'm hooked; I've seen lots of techno from the 2N34 germanium transistor on. It ain't Tektronix, but the G-4 is among the slickest gadgets yet; (surely) I DESERVE ONE! Lookin for an angle.. ..as I wait for the e-Machine/98-lite to self-destruct, like all the Others out there. Phase-in / Phase-out I'll just skip that operation
