New Telling quote
Earlier this month MSN said it would no longer sell pop-up and pop-under ads after its own research found that pop-ups are a "key contributor to user dissatisfaction".

Was there ever any doubt as to why there's no way to turn off pop-up ads in IE?

New Yep.
And now that MSN has stopped selling popup ads, the next IE (in XP SP2 IIRC) will include popup blocking.
