Leafs vs Senators though. I love these games especially when the Leafs win. It really sticks in the craw of Ottawa-ians (?) so deeply. Hehehe.
The Senators go up 4-0 against the Leafs by the middle of the game with their first goal in just 13 seconds from the start of the game. Then the Leaf goals started. 4-1. 4-2. 4-3. And with five minutes left in the third period the score becomes tied 4-4 thanks to Mr. Third Period Matts Sundin. Overtime Nolan scores the winner. Sweet!
The Leafs were without their number one goalie Belfour, no Newy, no Mogs, Tucker and Nolan working through eye injuries, Nolan with the flu apparently. The Sens were missing a few players too most notably Chara and Redden. As the game progressed the flu started to take hold and by the third period, there were only 12 Sens players on the bench.
Best of all was the crowd. It was a home game for the Senators but like at any other Canadian city there is always a sizeable Leafs crowd and since Ottawa is so close it can be as much as half the fans. Back on Saturday in Toronto against Ottawa, the Leafs fans were booing the Sens captain Alfredsson everytime he touched the puck, for his crosscheck from behind of Tucker several years ago and the kneeing of Sundin that game. Last nights game it was great to hear Alfredsson booed in his own building by the Leafs fans. The Ottawa fans tried to counter with cheers but weren't as loud. HAHAHA!
Great fun! I hope there's another playoff meeting this year and the Leafs come out on top again. It'll drive the Ottawa fans nuts again. Apparently it's quite amusing to listen to the Ottawa sports radio stations after they lose to the Leafs. The angst, the anger, the vitriol... :-D
