I am trying to help someone out. He has a Palm Pilot and just got a Sony CLIE. Somehow he synched up the CLIE with the desktop or with the Palm Pilot and got duplicate entries in his address book.
I told him one way to do it is to delete the dupe entries on the desktop, do a hard reset and resynch the CLIE with the desktop. He claims there is an option to delete all contacts from a date range. He says he does not want to lose any data and that there might be data on the CLIE not on the Desktop.
I contacted Sony, who gave me the same answer I gave him. I asked for another way and they could not give me one.
Is there another way to do a massive selected deletion of duplicate records from a certain date? If not, I see the possibility of developing a new address book app that can store a created date and modified date to delete duplicate records from, and store them in a trashcan so if deletion was accidental they can be recovered.
