Welcome to IWETHEY!

New No turning back now.
Sent in acceptance and tendered my resignation.

Things should get interesting from now. Especially since I had to do it via messaging (with the exception of HR, who I presented in person)

New Yow! Doin' it!
I gather you didn't get escorted out. Or did you? I haven't figured out the messaging biz.
In any event, best wishes! Hope it goes well.
New No...they won't do that.
Boss was not in today.

Letter on desk, via email with a voicemail followup.

HR scheduled my exit chat for my last day.

New Excellent
It's happened to me only once, but from info gleaned from conversation, it is rather common to be escorted out of the building once you quit. I take it as a class act that they let you clean up and leave with dignity.
Again, good luck.

Hugh
New I can relate
Once was escorted out with a police escort from a job, but it was a firing not a quitting. Maybe that makes the difference.

New The worst I ever saw.
Fortune 100 company. The typical scenario when a plant manager was fired was to have the corporate helicopter land in the parking lot. Then, the president of the company comes into the plant, with two guards and has the two guards and the hr director escort the plant manager out of the building. The company would later box up the plant manager's personal items and mail them to him.

I worked in one of the plants when the plant manager was fired. It was a cold, steady sleet/snow mix day. The corporate hq called and had our plant manager drive up to corporate hq ( a 3 hour trip when the weather was good ). When he got there, he was fired. The weather didn't work for the helicopter trick this time. Man, that was hugely ugly.

It may be common, but the attitude it reflects is that "people are desks that can change passwords".

New GoodLuck++!
New Good luck to you sir
I only resigned from one job. It was a Help Desk job that paid less than Unemployment Benefits, so I went back on Unemployment until I found a better paying job.

I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you find a good job that you can be happy with.

There is nothing that can be said by mathematical symbols and relations which cannot also be said by words. The converse, however, is false. Much that can be and is said by words cannot successfully be put into equations, because it is nonsense. -- Clifford Ambrose Truesdell (1919-2000)
