Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Of course, the key word here is average.
It doesn't say who charged the absolute highest. Or how much.

Let's say for 3 months Enco power company charges $25 per megawatt and supplies 100 megawatts. Enco cuts power in half and raises it's cost to $50 a mega watt. (Is Enco average cost now $32.5? or is it $27.86?) If Canadian power supplies 50 megawatts on the spot market at $60 a share...is it's average $60?

New True
but the whole ordeal makes me think of "the little boy who cried wolf". With Davis blaming the Feds, blaming "Bush and the Texas Energy Companies stealing California's money" and so on, things like this make me not believe anything Davis says, even if it might have merit.

New Scratching head....I don't get the analogy.
The boy who cried wolf claimed there was a wolf then he wasn't there. Eventually the wolf showed up and nobody believed him.

I don't see the analogy in this situtation...unless you're saying that California isn't getting gouged and the costs for electricity for Calfornia haven't increased?

(I'm not saying it's not California's fault - just that the analogy doesn't really fit. :-)
New I've not had much sleep
we're setting up the computer room in our new facility. I spent the day Sunday at an outdoor concert(five 80's bands) not realizing I'd be working 8am-10pm Monday w/out AC(it's mighty hot here) and 8am-9pm yesterday(w/AC - they finally got it running!). We've got people onsite installing our new IP based phone system. Neat stuff, all the phones have an ethernet plug plus a thru-plug for the PC(thus only one ethernet jack is required per desk). You can unplug your phone and replug it in anywhere else and it'll work as your extension. Apparently I could even take my phone to my house, plug it into my home's network, and have my extension ring there(I believe VPN needs to be set up for it to work).

I'm not saying there isn't a problem. What I'm attempting to say is that Davis's has been trying to pass the blame(cry wolf) to everyone else for the problem - the Federal Government, the power companies in other states(and specificially Texas because of Bush in the white house), and so on. The LA Times story seems to me to show that the problem (the wolf) isn't as portrayed by Davis.

Probably a poor analogy. I'll try to get more sleep tonight :-)

New if you are using h323 for voice protocol
to be at home you cannot go thru a natted proxy server or firewall or you will get a 1 way voice path. H323 doesnt have that capability yet. Just curious what brand of ipphone solution are you using?
thanx,
bill
can I have my ones and zeros back?
New Cisco setup
I'm not sure what version the Call Manager is. The phones are:

[link|http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/tlhw/prodlit/7940_ds.htm|IP Phone 7940] - Production floor
[link|http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/tlhw/prodlit/7960_ds.htm|IP Phone 7960] - Office

The phones support Cisco CallManager technology, H.323, or Session Initiated Protocol (SIP). Not sure which protocol we're using, but I suspect it's the Cisco CallManager as that's what the box is called that the consultants are setting up.

New VPN will work
I talked with the guy setting up the system and he said that the phones will work using VPN; however, it is not officially supported because there is no guarantee of service quality when coming over the internet.
