Sundin's stick broke, one of them new fangled composite ones, during a potential scoring play and he flung the stick shaft in disgust over the glass.

I don't think he consciously decided to throw it up there but someone could have gotten hurt so I think the suspension is warranted. It sucks that Sundin sat out the Ottawa game last night as the Leafs got shelled. The Sens captain Alfredsson broke his stick in the third period and mockingly made the motion of throwing it in the stands. Not terribly nice but the Sens are screwed anyways after he proclaimed they would win the Cup this year.

Oh it wasn't a kid who caught the stick, it was some old guy.

The funniest thing I've seen involving a stick going over the glass was back in the mid '90s. Mike Gartner was playing and after a hit or something his stick accidently went over the glass. The fan sitting right up at the glass caught it and was in a bit of a bewildered state. The TV announcers jokingly said "Throw it back!" And he did (!) as Gartner was skating back up the ice and passed by the fan.
