Announcements from Buckingham Palace and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) proclaim that Queen Elizabeth II will make Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). He is being knighted in recognition of his services to the global development of the Internet through the invention of the World Wide Web.
