Xmas photos
[link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003|Xmas 2003] This was the first time I hosted the family xmas gathering. My mom gave me new curtains for Xmas, prior to that I only had miniblinds. Mom and my sister also decorated the house for me. Turned out really nice!
My mom's working on some photo comments, I did the first one to show her how it works. In the mean time, here's a who's who: [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03422.jpg|My sister Chelle & my mom] [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03416.jpg|my nephews, Brandin(4) and Justin(9)]

I see I need to do some gamma adjustments on some of the photos. Also need to get back to learning perl and finish my photo album software - got sidetracked with other projects :)

I agree there
... what's the point of having furniture you're not going to use? I have an Aunt who had a house with an entire living room of fancy furniture. Some of it was plastic covered, some antique, etc. You were not even allowed to SIT ON IT. I don't know what that room was for, but we always called it her "Shrine" Nightowl >8#

The funny thing is...
Leaving plastic on furniture and lampshades - might as well have "HOOSIER" tattooed on your forehead. They weren't hoosiers by any stretch of the imagination. They were well to do, lived in a high class suburb, and all. I always viewed hoosiers as backwoods country people. Nightowl >8#

Me too!
I like country people. Most of the idiots I know are not country people. I've never even met someone I considered a hoosier... I wonder sometimes if it's a myth made up or something, because all the people I know who live out in the country are the sweetest, nicest people. And I know quite a few! Nightowl >8#

Ah but I see the difference
You're talking about hoosiers who live in the city. I just read your description, and see, I've never seen anyone like that in the country. So my statement was I think it's a myth that all country people way out in the boonies are hoosiers.
I don't doubt the existence of them, just haven't seen them, in the city OR the country.

A Hoosier is
I've never even met someone I considered a hoosier
A Hoosier, by simple definition, is somebody from the state of Indiana. You know, it's "The Hoosier State", and most residents consider being called a "Hoosier" a compliment.

Re: Ummm...
This is not the Indiana hoosier. This is the Missouri/Illinois hoosier. A sort of meaner, grumpier redneck, often living in the city and not necessarily poor. Live for bar fighting and crystal meth. Often are too drunk and macho to obey stop signs, so have dented, fugly cars that rust fast. Averse to razors. Wear wife-beater t-shirts. Wives wears wife-beaters too and are also averse to razors. Muddy, half-laced work boots. The mud covers the blood from kicking the pit bull. Female hoosiers can be recognized by the fat rolls pouring over the belt loops of their skin-tight jeans, or by the baby vomit on their black halter tops.

Thanx!
I have a nice collection of Marvin stuff. Also in [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03389.jpg|that photo] you can see the "Erodium P.U. 36 Explosive Space Disintegrator" on the right side of the desk. The "gun" portion is a pen that's magnetically held to the base. The picture on the wall of the study is one of [link|http://www.wbshop.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=12071;category_id=2810;pcid1=;pcid2=|these animated pictures]. Sadly, it's in need of repair and only goes "diiink" when activated :( Next to the printer are a couple of etched plastic cutouts that glow via a light in their base.
In the [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03390.jpg|next photo] of the study you can see K9 sitting on my study's "TV"(it's an old Amiga monitor using my VCR as a tuner - still has an excellent picture).
In [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03393.jpg|this photo] of the living room you can just barely make out the laser cut Marvin on the table lamp located behind the Marvin Santa.
In [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03400.jpg|this photo] of the kitchen you can see the K-9 Cookie Jar next to the fridge. Most of the magnets on the fridge are Marvin, though they're too small to make out.
The Marvin collection started as an comment to a friend who collects Taz stuff - I idley mentioned that I liked Marvin better than Taz. The following Christmas my Marvin collection began when I received a bunch of Marvin stuff from her, her husband, and all of our mutual friends. Most of the Marvin stuff I received as gifts; the few exceptions are the animated picture, the K9 cookie jar and the cut-outs by the printer.
The dragons are my bigger collection. I used to run "The Dragon's Lair BBS" and was known as The Dragon Master(The Dm). Most of the dragons were also received as gifts from people. In the K-9 cookie jar photo you can see a couple of the ceramic dragib incense burners. The main collection is in the display case next to the xmas tree. There's a couple neat drawings next to [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03485.jpg|this chair](the chair's normally located where the tree is at). The top one is [link|http://www.dragon-stuff.com/penink_pages/compute-error.htm|"Go ahead - make my day"] - a dragon confronting a crashed computer; the bottom one is a group of dragon's playing [link|http://www.dragon-stuff.com/penink_pages/housenhuman.htm|"Houses & Humans"] with the House module "Bill's Bungalow" by Smaug.

Sadly, it's in need of repair and only goes "diiink" when activated :( Next to the printer are a couple of etched plastic cutouts that glow via a light in their base. Kewl! I have the pen that sits in the base and glows when you write with it, (Edit: You seem to have it too!) and a few figurines of him, as well as a stuffed Marvin, and the ones from McDonalds. And a bunch of my pencils are Marvin Pencils. I stocked up on them from Kmart, when they were selling loony toons pencils for 30 cents each. ;) In [link|http://www.spiceware.org/cgi-bin/spa.pl?album=./Xmas2003&photo=dcp03400.jpg|this photo] of the kitchen you can see the K-9 Cookie Jar next to the fridge. Most of the magnets on the fridge are Marvin, though they're too small to make out. I also have Marvin magnets all over my fridge! Most of those I made though, I stuck Marvin stickers on large sports schedule magnets and cut them out. I have a Marvin notebook, And I have a glow-in-the-dark Marvin T-shirt too! Plus I have a loony toons Pittsburgh Penguin T-Shirt with Marvin in the midst. :) The Marvin collection started as an comment to a friend who collects Taz stuff - I idley mentioned that I liked Marvin better than Taz. The following Christmas my Marvin collection began when I received a bunch of Marvin stuff from her, her husband, and all of our mutual friends. Most of the Marvin stuff I received as gifts; the few exceptions are the animated picture, the K9 cookie jar and the cut-outs by the printer. That's neat! Mine just started because I'm a collector at heart, and I just recently started collecting Marvins, but I don't have very many yet. I mostly collect just stuffed dragons. Stuffed animals is my biggest collection so far, I have over 1200 of them. ;) I do have a neat Dragon globe music box though, that someone gave me. Nightowl >8#

I got the light-up pen at a fast food restaurant, think it was Wendy's but not sure.
WOW, that's a lot of stuff animals! I've got about 10 stuffed animals, mostly dragons. The youngest nephew, Brandin, likes to gather them all up and sleep with them.

I got the light-up pen at a fast food restaurant, think it was Wendy's but not sure. Yep, we got ours from Wendys, so it probably was. WOW, that's a lot of stuff animals! I've got about 10 stuffed animals, mostly dragons. The youngest nephew, Brandin, likes to gather them all up and sleep with them. Mine are all over the house, they sit on my computer, my desk, the furniture, the shelves, etc. ;) I even have piles of Turtles and whales on the floor in the living room. Lately I've been buying these put together yourself crates, and making little cubbyholes to put them in. :) John and I both collect them, and we like the weirder ones best, like our stuffed porcupine and our stuffed Kookburra, for example. :) Nightowl >8#
