The equipment problems were given as an example of "other concerns" at the press conference but was explicitly not used as the basis of the lawsuit because there is no precedent or other legal basis. Ironically, this article gives the real complaint as an "other concerns" example...

We (Belgians) do by law have the right to make one copy for backup purposes. The suit alleges that the used copy-protection schemes are in violation of that law and should be banned.

Also, the case and its outcome apply only to Belgium. It could be used as an argument in countries with similar "right to backup" laws, but it won't apply across Europe by default.
