New Bombing won't do it.
Although that viewpoint seems to be stuck in the military head, and has been since Billy Mitchell sank those battleships.

Bombing wasn't enough in WWII - and that was against enemies with defined industries and such.

In this terrain, ground troops will be required.

Same URL as the first was discussing that the US is "ruling out" setting up a temporary base inside Afganistan. Why, I don't know, I like the idea of setting one up. Let the Taliban show up and try to run them off. "C'mere. Fight out in the open and make it easy".

New You don't own it until you're standing on it.
Bombing actually helps a lot. There's more to the fight than killing them.

Constant bombing means that they're not going to be sleeping.

Keep that up for a week or two or four.

Soften up all the targets so the ground troops will be safer.

Eventually we'll have to have people on the ground. But the goal is to destroy as much of the enemy's capability to fight those troops as possible.
