Well, the point was, a kid asked my why the sky went from blue to black when the Sun went down. It's just a simple question that I found amusing, and the beautiful picture is the best answer. I'm sure the youngster was surprised to learn that the sky isn't black at all.

But yes, I did rephrase the paradox, deliberately, because "Why is the sky black?" is observationally incorrect - the sky is a very very very dull red (a black body at 2.3 degrees Kelvin).

It is also amusing that one can't find an unmoderated astronomy forum that doesn't have at least one idiot creationist.
