Saddam prisoner before capture?
[link|http://www.debka.com/article.php?aid=743|Debka] According to DEBKAfile analysts, these seven anomalies point to one conclusion: Saddam Hussein was not in hiding; he was a prisoner.
After his last audiotaped message was delivered and aired over al Arabiya TV on Sunday November 16, on the occasion of Ramadan, Saddam was seized, possibly with the connivance of his own men, and held in that hole in Adwar for three weeks or more, which would have accounted for his appearance and condition. Meanwhile, his captors bargained for the $25 m prize the Americans promised for information leading to his capture alive or dead. The negotiations were mediated by Jalal Talabani\ufffds Kurdish PUK militia. This is Debka, so it should be taken with a grain of salt, and they overstate their evidence a bit. But the claim makes enough sense and has enough evidence that I think it's possible. Their conclusion section should be ignored however, it's the sort of pro-Isreal occupation garbage that Debka often puts out. Jay

Re: Saddam prisoner before capture?
Very interesting, very plausible. This needs to be thoroughly investigated. What would you do in a ravaged and destroyed society when the person responsible strolls by, and he's an instant few million to make?

Tis possible...
...that they gave him the pistol, closed him in and were waiting for him to kill himself.

what I find interesting is that a DNA sample
takes me 3 weeks to get mine processed and 30 hrs from swab to results in Sadaams case. Can the process be that quick? thanx, bill

Yes, it can be quick.
A DNA test like the one that apparently helped confirm Saddam Hussein's identity can be done in as little as 12 hours, a forensics expert says. [link|http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-12-14-fast-testing_x.htm|Link].

Re: Saddam prisoner before capture?
Sounds plausible to me. That $25 mill must have been incredibly tempting to a lot of people.
