Re: Good luck!
"Dry" - that is - non-threatening - in the discombobulated surface tissue - plenty of plasma flow lately so I'll be OK (but my pants will suffer..)
Thanks all.
My best friend's sister, who I adore, has lung cancer - if you believe in such things, say a prayer for Steffie.

Some people...
... will go to any lengths to avoid getting thrown in the pool. But really, Ross, gangrene is just going the extra mile...
Glad to hear it's not as bad as it could be. Get better.

I will.
And I'm glad it's 'non-threatening'...

Sort of
I had to go back last night because of sudden increase in drainage, the cultures are cooking and I'm on industrial anti-bs. My former doctor insists that I come in for free treatment, but I am reluctant to do that, sitting here brooding about what to do...

Dude, go back
Doctors never offer free treatment unless they're idealists at a clinic, you've got a case he wants to wrote up for publication, or you've got something so serious he's afraid you'll sue every doctor you ever talked to. Any way you slice it, you should at least let him look at it and see what he says.

Fresh datum -
A friend has a so-far undiagnosed (undiagnosable?) ailment, having to do with absorption of nutrients [cause? effect?] / lack of energy, etc.
At first, with one GI-type local specialist: the usual - not look-in-eye, not 'remember' what it was she was in for.. not ask, "so how are you doing? since last [weeks ago] visit". Te$ts. Unrevealing. Etc.
But as the possibilities are winnowed away - not merely via PDR, (the Pharm-Chem industry's Sears catalogue) but various other sources (she does her homework) -- both the AMA-type and a couple alternate folk: are now genuinely Interested. ie Attitude change\ufffd.
(Surely this shouldn't surprise. Face it -- a LOT of 'complaints' devolve to routine diagnoses, then unfollowed directions about diet or other (if.. the AMA-type is old/young enough to even think of 'diet'!) ie boring. Give someone a prospect of the Unusual.. physics or med, and:
Well???
GO SEE THAT GUY, You Idgit! [/advice]

Re: Fresh datum -
Not a guy, S. Bagwath - she's a great doctor, and I like her tremendously. I refuse to have any doctor but her.
I simply feel bad about taking charity. But I will go as soon as my cultures are cooked. Day after tomorrow most like.

Good point!
Doctor that reconstructed my knee (over a decade ago) waived fees - but my knee was both totally screwed up AND undiagnosable - he had a stream of interns through constantly, trying to diagnose the trouble, and to mark the recovery.
It seems that I was compensating so well that nobody could tell (via physical/external exam) what was wrong - he seemed to really enjoy all the various mis-diagnoses the interns made...
