That "Star Wars" laser and missile defense that we never got to use and we may not have yet it costs us billions maybe trillions of taxpayer dollars to build. Of course it is all stealth so we cannot see it. Sort of like Wonder Woman's invisible plane. :) Despite the fact that it can stop any missile launched in our direction, it cannot stop one terrorist with a backpack that contains a "dirty bomb" of radioactive materials. Nor could it stop hijackers from flying planes into buildings.

Let's face facts, the MegaCorps control our government here anyway by renting politicians to pass laws in their favor. We are no longer a Democracy or a Republic, but a Puppet for the MegaCorps. The next evolution is to have the MegaCorps run the Government for us. Most likely they will offshore that to cut down on costs. So chances are the Chinese will be the lowest bidders for offshoring the government management to. :)

Since I've estiablished that the MegaCorps run the government, you can bet that they want to keep the overhead of insurance high and charge the consumers more.
