Yes, but they also prevent skipping some teasers
Which is criminal IMO.
Consider the man with a screaming toddler trying to get a kids movie on to distract the kid.
Many DVD's have as much as 3 minutes of crap you can't skip and thats a LOOONG time when a kid is screaming in your ear.
