One of my early interests with computers was project failures. In fact, somewhere on my bookshelf is.... Software Systems Failure and Success. Problem being: large, complex projects are both large and complex. The large and more complex, the less successful.

Moving the whole thing out of the organization, half the planet away, and into a different language, adds a few more degrees of freedom.
