New Here's why I support Dean
I just retook [link|http://selectsmart.com/PRESIDENT/|http://selectsmart.com/PRESIDENT/] to verify. Here are my results:

The fact that my best agreement is with the democratic front runner, whose funding is not beholden to the big special interests, is just icing on the cake.

Yes, there are things that I disagree with. For instance while I can understand someone from Vermont (99% white) being insensitive on race issues, I still didn't like his flag comment. But at this point I would vote for a monkey if it talked and had a chance of beating Bush. Particularly if I thought that the monkey had decent opinions on the economy...

YMMV

Cheers,
Ben

New Ben Tilly, Yellow-dog Democrat....
But at this point I would vote for a monkey if it talked and had a chance of beating Bush.

The mantra of the "yellow-dog Democrat", 2003 version.

Not that I disagree, mind you. I just thought the sentiment was interesting.

New Not quite a democrat
Just very unhappy with Bush.

New Most yellow-dog Democrats were actually Republicans
who were disenfranchised by their party as a result of carpetbagging and other such dispicable practices of the Party of Reagan and Bush.

Not calling you a Democrat, Ben, just calling you a yellow-dog Democrat. To my twisted mind, there is a difference....

New Pretty similar
Interestingly enough - I had no idea who Dennis Kucinich was before I took this. Dean is also a pretty good fit. This is a nifty little program but it doesn't take into account personality traits that will determine whether the man can pull any of this stuff off.

Wouldn't have thought that Kucinich would agree with me this closely...was leaning toward Dean (mostly because he wasn't afraid to "engage" the GOP about all the bullshit they output on an hourly basis).

1. \tYour ideal theoretical candidate. (100%)
2. \tEdwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat (72%)
3. \tKucinich, Rep. Dennis, OH - Democrat (61%)
4. \tDean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat (59%)

9. \tClark, Retired General Wesley K., AR - Democrat (45%)
10. \tLieberman, Senator Joe, CT - Democrat (42%)
11. \tBush, President George W. - Republican (28%)
12. \tLaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat (20%)
13. \tMoseley-Braun, Former Senator Carol, IL - Democrat (9%)
14. \tPhillips, Howard - Constitution (4%)

I think it's scary that Kucinich is so close to the top of my list as I would not vote for him. I can't see myself voting for Edwards either (1-I don't think he'll win the nomination, 2-I don't think he's the right person at this time). While many people here were getting 90+% scores for some of the candidates, my highest was only 72%!

I am glad to see Howard at the bottom though. :-) I think it's interesting that Kucinich has won the plurality of the votes there (42%). FWIW.

Cheers,
Scott.
New 3 months later, I took it again.

I'm glad Phillips is still at the bottom of the list. I'm also glad that Dean's at the top now since I sent him some money a couple of days ago...

I don't think Edwards has done enough to warrant being President.

Kerry still bothers me. The first paragraph on his web site has the word "fight" or "fought" or "fighting" used in every other sentence. It's a peeve of mine that too many politicians are busy "fighting" rather than "working"... :-( Lots of other things too - like what significant accomplishments can he point to in the last 14 years (since Iran-Contra)?

I don't like Clark because he's never held office, has no record on policy issues (and has waffled on many of the answers he's given) and I don't have any confidence that he'll be able to lead the government.

Kucinich is still winning (23%) among people who've taken the quiz - the counter was reset on February 3.

Cheers,
Scott.
New You should be in Hog heaven, now!
Your boy got endorsed by The Big Al himself.

(To be sure, I'm OK with it...)
